  Definitions:

Class is taught by the speaker from the program.

Workshop is given by a guild member

.

Workshop/ Program Etiquette:

  • Turn OFF your cell phone prior to the beginning of the workshop. If you must take a call, move to a private space way from others.
  • Be early or on time.  Class venue is available for set up 30 minutes prior to start time.  If you are late, please quietly catch up and do not expect the teacher to start her lesson from the beginning.
  • Bring all required supplies from the supply list.  Be sure to include an extension cord or power strip, cutting mat and small iron among your supplies.  Be sure your name is on your supplies to prevent mix-up.  Borrowing slows down your progress and the progress of the member from whom you borrowed.  If requested by your instructor, have all class materials cut and/or prepared (labeled, etc.)
  • Keep quiet when instructor is talking.
  • Make sure you are familiar with your sewing machine.  Check your machine BEFORE the class day and have it ready for sewing.
  • Listen carefully while the instructor or presenter is speaking.  Whispering is annoying to both the instructor and others in attendance.
  • Be patient with yourself.  Do no compare your progress to others in the class: it is not a race or competition.  If you find yourself falling behind, make sure to let the teacher know you are having difficulty.
  • Do Not take photographs without consent of the instructor.  Is is common courtesy to ask permission of the instructor/presenter before photographing her samples or work.
  • A guild workshop or program is not a safe or appropriate setting for children unless the topic is specifically for them.
  • Due to allergies, workshop and program participants are asked to refrain from wearing perfume or fragrances.

With etiquette and respect, all participants can be prepared to ave a good time learning new quilting techniques and skills.!
